CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A dramatic rescue unfolded yesterday along the Scioto River near Canal Park when Eric Keith Lee was pulled from a sandbar after fleeing law enforcement. The incident began around 4 p.m. Thursday when Lee made his run, leading to a search and rescue operation.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office dispatched multiple departments at approximately 4:08 p.m.

According to the Pickaway Township Fire Department, the rescue operation culminated at 5:21 p.m. when Lee was safely transported to Berger OhioHealth.

Following his hospital evaluation, Lee was taken into custody and transported to the Pickaway County Jail. He has been charged with a probation violation, failure to comply with police and obstruction. Lee remains in custody pending arraignment.
